So since the battery went dead flat for a few months (as due to the pandemic I was not using it often) my Hyundai i40 station wagon from 2013, bought in Portugal, decided to go funny with the clock settings. Regardless of what I did, the clock (which was supposed to be always kept synchronized via the GPS), was always "off" by 1 hour.
So I got fed-up of being confused wrt the real time and decided to google a bit whether there are any updates available....and surprise, surprise, I just updated it today (the process took almost 1h but managed to fix the clock problem - the clock menu now also has a NEW option to optionally allow manual selection of the timezone ! hurray!).
Also, as a side effect, I am now running the latest 2021 European maps, System, Firmware, and Bluetooth Software versions!
First things first, the package files (that you can download in HERE), need to be copied into the root directory of an USB stick formatted in FAT32. Also, the update is only meant to be used for Gen1 Hyundais/KIAs SatNavs. Now.....how can you recognize a Gen1 nav system? That's pretty easy:
1) If your satnav dashboard in your Hyunday looks like this:
2) And you have an USB slot and no SD card slot, then congratulations, you have a Gen1 Satnav system!! and you can proceed!
Before continuing, make sure you have at least a 5.1.3 s/w version, otherwise, you need to upgrade your software version first (there is zip package inside the RARs specifically to address this requirement to update into v5.1.3 if needed). To check your current versions of all components, just press the "Settings" (cog) button for 10secs and you will see the screen in the picture below.
The upgrade process is as easy as plugging-in your USB key with the files. Your Hyundai/KIA satnav will recognize and ask you whether you want to start the update process.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The process really takes around 40-50m. Several sites state that you should leave your engine running all the time. I managed to leave the ignition "on" during the whole process, but in fact I think I drained the battery a bit too much. Nothing that driving a few kms will not solve....
If you do start the process with the radio/satnav on and the car switched off, your system may switch-off in the middle of the update process after 60secs (but don't worry, you can always restart the process). - Still need to check if this "auto enter in standby" option has been removed in this update, as mentioned in some forums....
I now leave you with some pics that I took of the whole process. Enjoy!
Before updating, these were the versions of the firmware, s/w, maps, system software:
I then selected the option to start the update process...and it automatically started by updating the system software...it also asked which maps I wanted to update (you can choose between Europe and Russia only - since living in Europe/Portugal, I went for the "Europe" option obviously :) )
And now it started updating the maps...4.2GB of it...
Finally, it upgraded the firmware as well..:)
And this is the final result after all upgrades! If you leave your USB plugged-in, it will show the screen below and attempt to re-start the update process again..so at this stage, you can simply unplug the USB key and your are done! Congrats!
Uma postagem meio "estranha", amigo Gizmo :))
